MENOPAUSE

Description
Also called “change of life” menopause represents the stage in a woman’s life when the menstrual cycle stops permanently. The woman then ceases to be fertile as her childbearing years come to an end. The woman is considered to have hit menopause when she stops bleeding for at least a year. The physiological reason for this change is that the ovaries progressively decrease their secretion of the female hormones, Estrogen and Progesterone. The reduction in hormone production often brings along with it other symptoms aside from stoppage of the menstrual period.

Statistical studies show the following:
Currently in the United States the average age of Menopause is 51, with approximately 8 out of 100 women stopping to menstruate before the age of 40 and 5 out of 100 have their period until the age of 60. Most women follow the same pattern as their mothers did.
