VACCINATIONS

Description
Vaccines contain viruses or bacteria that have been modified and when injected into the body of a pet trigger production of antibodies which later prepares the body to fight future infections caused by foreign invaders- viruses and bacteria.

Statistical studies show the following:
Currently there is great controversy present on if and when to vaccinate.  There are those who tout the protective nature of vaccinating pets against future ailments. Others who oppose it point to the incidence of adverse reactions to vaccines such as cancer in cats.  Most veterinarians today have gone away from a standard annual immunization program but have opted to base it on the individual pet’s risk of acquiring different ailments.

Guidelines for Canine and Feline Immunizations
These vaccines that are recommended to give to puppies and dogs of unknown immunization records protect against diseases that have a very high morbidity and mortality rate. These include: canine parvovirus (CPV), canine distemper virus (CDV), canine adenovirus (CAV), and rabies.  There are of course other vaccines that are given but are based on the pet risk of exposure. The core feline vaccines are those for feline herpesvirus 1 (FHV1), feline calicivirus (FCV), feline panleukopenia virus (FPV) and rabies.  With cats since there is high incidence of carcinoma related to vaccines there is a clear practice among veterinarians to minimize the frequency of vaccinations.

There is an alternative to administrating vaccines and that is homeopathic nosodes which is a homeopathic remedy made from disease body fluid and tissues.  The only vaccination that is required by law and can not be substituted is the one for rabies for dog and cats
