Description
Skin disorders are various medical
conditions that affect the skin. There are
numerous types of skin disorders ranging
from infectious, autoimmune, genetic and
allergic among others. The list of skin
conditions include:
Acne
Eczema
Rosacea

Winkles
And

Types and Symptoms
Acne: A very
common skin disorder that is characterized
by the overactive sweat glands clogging the
skin pores and hair follicles, forming
plugs.
Symptoms
2 types of acne:
Non-Inflammatory: Mild form of acne that
presents with blackheads and whiteheads.
Inflammatory: The
whiteheads become inflamed causing postules
and cyss, can cause disfiguring scarring.
Eczema: a
noncontagious skin disorder of unknown
cause, that can affect any part of the body
and is characterized by, itching, and the
formation crusty and scaly skin.
Symptoms
Dry reddened skin
Intense itching Burning sensation Scaly and
crusty skin
Psoriasis: A
chronic skin condition characterized by red
patches covered with white scales affecting
predominately the scalp, elbows and knees.
Symptoms
Silvery scales atop
reddened patches of skin
Dry skin that may
crack and bleed
Nails are thick and
ridged
Joints that are
stiff and often swollen
Rosacea: A
skin disorder characterized by flushing of
the facial skin most frequently in areas of
the nose, cheek, forehead and chin. It also
presents with pustules (pus-filled pimples),
papules (hard pimples) as well as
telangiectasias (visible spider like veins).
Symptoms
Facial redness In
women located on cheeks, chin, nose and
forehead while in men it is mainly on the
nose
Red pimples (unlike acne that has blackheads
and whiteheads)
Telangiectasias which are visible spider like
veins
Facial burning sensation
Eye irritation
Rhinopyma swollen bumps on the nose
Hyper-reactive skin
Wrinkles: lines or creases in the
skin, that are usually caused by the aging
process but there are factors that
accelerate the rate.

Hormonal factors
Dehydration
Skin Cancer:
Uncontrolled growth of the cells of the
outer layer of the skin. Since the outer
layer of the skin is made of 3 different
types of cells, the cancer is classified by
which of the cells is involved.
Types and Symptoms
There are three main types of skin cancer
Basal Cell Carcinoma (non melanoma
skin cancer)
An often easily detected form of skin cancer
that is highly treatable basal cell
carcinoma usually appears as a small, shiny
bump on the skin, and mainly on the areas
exposed to the sun, such as the head, neck,
arms, hands, and face.
Squamous Cell
Carcinoma (non melanoma skin cancer) A
highly treatable form of cancer that appears
on the rim of the ear, face, lips and mouth,
They appear as firm red bumps on sun exposed
areas or scaly, crusty patch of skin that
may bleed.
Malignant Melanoma. The most serious
form of skin cancer with the highest death
rate malignant melanoma affects mainly light
skinned individuals. People that are at high
risk have blond and blue eyes, a family
history, many freckles, inability to tan,
unprotected exposure to the sun. Symptoms to
watch for include a mole that is
asymmetrical, with rough, uneven edges,
pigmentation is not uniform, and growing,
scaling, bleeding or oozing.
